APQC is happy to announce that, for a fifth time, it has been named one of North America's Most Admired Knowledge Enterprises (MAKE) by Teleos and the KNOW network.

For more than a decade, the MAKE research program has recognized leading organizations for their ability to use knowledge-driven strategies to transform corporate knowledge into intellectual capital.  APQC was recognized for:

  • Developing knowledge-based products/services/solutions,
  • Enterprise collaborative knowledge sharing, and
  • Organizational learning (first place).

The 2009 North American MAKE Winners were selected by a panel of North American Fortune Global 500 business executives and leading knowledge management experts. Other winners include Apple, ConocoPhillips, Fluor, Google, Hewlett-Packard, IBM, IDEO, Microsoft, and MITRE.

Submit Your 2009 MAKE Nominations

The Most Admired Knowledge Enterprises (MAKE) study recognizes organizations that are outperforming their peers in eight dimensions of knowledge management. Each year, the study seeks nominations of organizations that fit this description. Those submitting nominations receive the executive summary of the MAKE report, which identifies the winners (i.e., the most frequently nominated) as well as trends and findings among the MAKE winners and finalists.

The MAKE survey takes less than five minutes to complete, but the deadline to submit is fast approaching--it's this Friday, May 29. Click here to access the survey and make your nominations. Don't miss this opportunity to acknowledge the organizations that you feel excel in knowledge management.

On behalf of everyone at APQC, I'd like to wish you a happy 2009! I hope you've all had a relaxing, enjoyable holiday season and are feeling rested and ready for the year ahead.

As some of you may remember, APQC's December KM community call focused on the 2008 Global Most Admired Knowledge Enterprises (MAKE) study, conducted by Teleos in association with The KNOW Network. We were joined by special guest presenter Rory Chase, managing director of Teleos, who provided an overview of the award's history and announced the 2008 global winners.  The call also included presentations by representatives from four of the 20 global winners: Carla O'Dell from APQC, Tom Barfield from Accenture, Dan Nerison from Fluor, and Susan Rosenbaum from Schlumberger.

With so much great material to cover, our presenters weren't able to answer all of your questions during the presentation. However, as we promised at the end of the call, we've compiled your questions and are posting the presenters' responses below. Thank you to everyone who participated in the call, and a special thank you to our presenters who took time out of the busy holiday season to write such thoughtful replies. We hope you find the answers helpful as you pursue your KM goals for the new year.
