Thanks and Reminders

Thank You.jpgThank you to everyone for a great conference. I know there's been a lot going on, and we appreciate that so many of you have taken the time to share your reactions via KM Edge. I hope that, as you head home and start to process and reflect on what you've seen and heard, you'll continue to add your thoughts to the session pages for the various keynote and breakout presentations (these can be accessed from the conference agenda). Remember, the Comment to Win contest is open until next Friday (May 9), so there's still lots of time to be entered for a chance to win one of ten $100 Amazon gift cards.

Also, I'd like to let everyone know that the current KM Edge Web site is only phase one--robust community forums and social networking are on the way, so please stay tuned. On the session page for Carla's keynote, she's included a personal message asking for feedback, user-generated content, and any help you are willing to give us in making KM Edge the best it can be. If you have suggestions or would like to get involved, please e-mail us at build@kmedge.org.

I'd like to offer an idea for blogging which has been used successfully at other conference: common tagging. I'd offer up APQC08KM as our common tag. Tag every post, every photograph, every bit of data on the Internet with this common tag, APQC08KM, and be totally blown away by the power of this common idea. I've already started, tagging my posts at Coast Guard Performance Excellence (see http://cgopc.cgblog.org) with APQC08KM; as soon as the crawlers swing by, APQC08KM will start to show up on the search tools.

Good idea Peter..

I ran into Carla on Friday before I left and suggested that something to consider next year in addition to break out presentations was break-out "peer assists".. it seemed that everyone at the conference had some pretty serious KM challenges, so I thought, wouldn't it be interesting if:

- a fixed number of people with a KM challenge would submit a brief description / context to APQC.
- like signing up for a break-out or a workshop, people would sign-up to help that individual with the challenge - a peer assist - facilitated by an APQC staff member
- the people with the challenge would summarize their learning on the conference blog
